Evolving the Sears MasterCard with Shop Your Way®

As I mentioned in my February letter to shareholders, we are focused on transforming Sears Holdings into a company that serves its members and helps them manage their daily lives. Yesterday, Sears and Citi announced a partnership to bring together the Sears MasterCard with a compelling Shop Your Way offer. This is a complimentary offer exclusively for our members and an investment in deepening the relationships we have with them.

Moving forward, we are focused on making the Sears MasterCard a core element of the Shop Your Way member rewards offering. While the new 5-3-2-1 benefit is effective on November 1st of this year, come March 2017, the Sears MasterCard will evolve into a newly branded Shop Your Way card. This Best In Class card is a significant step to meeting our objective of broadening the opportunity for members to earn rewards on the brands and products they care about most.

While the new Shop Your Way card delivers enormous value for our members, it will also further support our efforts to add additional partnerships over time. These companies will join leading Shop Your Way business partners – such as Uber, Liberty Mutual Insurance, Pure Talk, Groupon and Avis Budget Group, and we will work with them in generating greater loyalty and member engagement within the ecosystem through a universal points currency.

From its inception, we envisioned Shop Your Way being the cornerstone of the Sears Holdings’ transformation from simply selling goods to being the one stop destination for our members as they navigate everyday life.  As this member-centric transformation continues to take hold, it will drive material benefits to both Sears Holdings and its Shop Your Way partners.
