In the last 12 months, Kmart relaunched its brand, brought back Bluelight specials and started to make shopping fun again. The stores routinely host Freebie Saturdays and in-store family events for Shop Your Way members. In May, Kmart hosted its first-ever cross-format preview event featuring the new 2016 summer and fall collection in New York City. In addition, our store associates are currently rolling out a phased project that gets our newly-delivered products on the stores’ shelves immediately rather than in the stock rooms and ensuring that the member does not wait in line at the checkout. We’re focused on giving our members a “WOW” experience and this change is helping our stores operate more efficiently.
Our point in sharing this with you?
Every day, tens of thousands of men and women are working hard to serve our members, keeping our strong stores strong and getting our underperforming stores headed in the right direction. With the improved operating efficiency of our stores, our associates are spending more time assisting members and customers. As a result, we are receiving positive feedback from our associates about the changes (for instance, their jobs are now more simple and more enjoyable). We continue to educate associates on the strategy, just as we continue to evaluate and optimize our cost structure with a focus on store-level marketing expenditures, staffing levels and improved inventory management.
Sears Holdings is highly focused on restoring profitability to the company and Kmart remains a key part of our asset portfolio. We’re proud of our associates for the work they do each and every day to help us continually improve and serve our members.
Shop online or stop by a Kmart store near you and let our stores and your shopping experience speak for itself. We think you’ll find the shopping experience is improving and you’ll have some fun to boot!
