This spring, thousands are gathering nationwide to march together in support of March of Dimes, the leading maternal and child health organization that is fighting for healthy moms and strong babies. For 80 years, March of Dimes has helped millions families by providing support for pregnancy complications, preterm labor and more, including research to find solutions for the biggest health threats to moms and babies.
Kmart is March of Dimes’ longest-running corporate partner, celebrating 35 years in 2018! Over the last three and a half decades, Kmart has helped raise a record $145 million and is still going strong. This April, Sears Holdings associates and members rallied together all over the country to raise money, awareness and march for babies. Preventing premature birth not only reduces health care costs, it saves babies’ lives. Our efforts embody the spirit in which the March of Dimes was founded — that small contributions by many add up to incredible results.
SHC’s Chief Digital Officer Leena Munjal joined the front lines of the Chicago Lakefront march alongside Kmart associates in Grant Park this past weekend. Alongside Leena and other Kmart associates marched the Hood family, the 2018 Chicago Ambassador Family. Their daughter, Brooklyn, was born at just 27 weeks weighing 1lb 13oz. and was in the neonatal intensive care unit for 73 days. She is now a happy and healthy seven-month old.
“Kmart has long championed charities and issues that mean the most to our associates and Shop Your Way members,” said Leena. “It’s a family effort within our organization and a great point of pride for everyone who works at Kmart – both in-store and at the great marches across America. Mother’s Day is a great reminder that their contributions give hope to the families of more than 380,000 babies born too soon each year.
